Day One - Sightseeing in Kathmandu & Panauti

After breakfast we proceed to Buddha Stupa which is 6 km to the east of Kathmandu and is said to be built in 5th. Century AD. Here you will visit the local Tibetan community as well as you will see the Stupa with its traditional prayer rolls and well known Tibetan flags. After this we will head towards Pashupatinath. This is a very sacred temple for Lord Shiva. Non Hindus cannot enter the temple itself, but are free to wander around on the temple grounds. Here we will see cremation ceremonies as well as the colourful priests, "Baba's". The temple premises are also inhabited by local monkeys. It is sure that this temple and the ceremonies taking place here will leave a big impression on you.

After this we will go to Panauti Village. On the way to Panauti, which is 36 kilometres from Kathmandu, we will stop at the largest Shiva statue in the world, Kailashnath Mahadev. After visiting the statue we will continue our drive to Panauti. It is the typical Newari village of Panauti. This traditional Newari settlement may in certain ways compare to its bigger brother Bhaktapur. Panauti however is more rural and one can see the city life combined with the rural life. Throughout the city farmers offer their local products for sale. The historical centre of Panauti boasts a large number of "pati's", public houses and temples. Most of the temples are related to the Hindu religion, yet there are also few Stupas spread around the city. In ancient stories it is said that the entire city of Panauti is built on just one large stone. This night we will stay overnight in Panauti.

Day Two - Hike to Namo Buddha

After breakfast we will start hiking to Namo Buddha (1982m.). The hike will take us approximately three till four hours and will have quite some ups and downs. During your hike you will have an opportunity to view breathtaking natural scenarios combined and pass through small local villages to observe the rural life. Namo Buddha is a scared Buddhist place where Lord Buddha sacrificed his own body to save a starving tiger. At this typical Buddhist Gompa you can watch the rituals and at the same time have a great view over the mountains and deep down, Panauti. In the afternoon we will drive back to Dhulikhel and stay overnight in a hotel in Dhulikhel.

Day Three - Sightseeing in Bhaktapur

After this we will proceed to Bhaktapur, one of the medieval cities. Most popularly Bhaktapur is known as the living museum because of its traditional lifestyle and Newari culture. In Bhaktapur we will visit beautiful buildings with ancientDownload as PDF arts and architecture like the highest temple in Nepal and many other attractions. Besides the touristic places, we will walk through the local streets within the city which will give an impression of local life style and daily activities. We will drive back to Kathmandu and stay overnight in Kathmandu.
