Kathmandu - Village Tour - Nagarkot
Trip features
Trip duration: 3 Days 3 Nights
Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, is a mixture of old medieval cities with people still following their old traditions and a third world capital rushing carelessly towards modernisation. The old part of the city, with narrow medieval streets and lovely little shrines, centres on the Durbar Square (durbar being the Nepali word for 'palace'). Here one can find distinctive pagoda-roofed temples, stone sculptures, old monasteries and historic monuments. It has more than 100 important monuments. The Kathmandu valley was rewarded the status of "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO in year 1979.
Nagarkot, located 32 kilometres east of Kathmandu, is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district and is renowned for its spectacular sunrise view of the Himalaya when the weather is clear. Visitors often travel to Nagarkot from Kathmandu to spend the night so that they can be there for the breathtaking sunrise. The views expand from Ganesh Himal in the west to Everest in the East. However, the Everest is only more than a spot from here. It also offers an excellent view of the Indrawati river valley to the east. With an elevation of 2,195 meters, Nagarkot also offers a panoramic view of the Valley.
